Supervisor, Engineering Polymers (Relocate to Virginia Beach)

We are seeking a highly skilled Supervising Engineer for our state of-the- art Polymers Production Group!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, coordinates, and guides engineers in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data used to resolve production issues.
  • Responsible for the performance of projects and personnel in designated area.
  • Schedules and monitors concurrent engineering projects and communicates with department manager as needed. 
  • Distributes, coordinates and organizes work to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met. 
  • Makes decisions on proposals for general problem resolutions, and proposes technical improvements, equipment recommendations, and improved work methods. 
  • Researches, designs, and implements systems to improve error-proofing, quality, increase production speed, reduce downtime, and improve cost effectiveness. Measures impact of changes on production cost, quality, and accuracy; prepares reports to management as necessary.
  • Analyzes processes and equipment to proactively detect issues and minimize unscheduled downtime.  Analyze unplanned downtime to determine causality and make recommendations to prevent future problems. Creates designs, models, and schematics for either in house or outside vendors to construct.  May personally assist in the construction of such systems, and is responsible for system tests, validation, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinates with personnel in other departments to aide in problem resolution.  Participates in improvement teams and focus groups as needed. Assists with instructing, training, and answering area-specific questions for less experienced engineers or other departmental personnel.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project implementation and manufacturing production support preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing engineering staff
  • Proficient Microsoft software knowledge, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Office.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and Autocad strongly preferred
  • Ability to coordinate moving, installing and commissioning of manufacturing machines and automated equipment.
  • Experience with polymers, vibration welding and subassembly.


  • SAP experience.
  • German language skills are a nice to have.
