STIHL Northwest

Welcome to STIHL Northwest!

Located in Chehalis, Washington, STIHL Northwest was one of the earliest independent distributors of STIHL products.

The original owners of the distributorship, Bill Warren and Jim Nanney decided to purchase a STIHL distributorship in 1969. They made this decision after a conversation with Al Whyte, the father of the current President of STIHL Inc. He recommended that they purchase the distributorship because STIHL was beginning to capture the market share in the professional chain saw market within the Northwest, and the decision proved to be a sound one.

In July 1994, STIHL Inc. purchased STIHL Northwest, and it became the first company-owned branch in STIHL’s U.S. distribution system. The transition from independent distributor to STIHL Inc. branch was an easy one because virtually all of the employees stayed with the new organization. Many of the same employees hired by Warren and Nanney are still with STIHL Northwest. Dave Bulger was the general manager at STIHL Limited in Canada when he joined STIHL Northwest in 1994; he is the first and, to date, only branch Manager for this distributorship.

STIHL Northwest has fewer dealers than any other branch or distributorship, but the dealers tend to be larger than most. The branch currently has 24 employees and covers four states; Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Oregon.
