Welcome to Pacific STIHL!
Located within the fertile San Joaquin Valley in Visalia, California.
STIHL Inc. acquired a distributor located in Chico, California, in early 1996 and moved the new branch location to Visalia, California, to create the third branch, Pacific STIHL. Visalia is in the fertile San Joaquin Valley, just a short drive from the Sequoia National Park. The new territory covered Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Guam and the American Samoas.
Unlike previous branches to this point, Pacific STIHL started in a new facility with virtually all new employees. The office staff began working with computers propped on cardboard boxes. The sales force joined Pacific STIHL from the pervious distributor. Two STIHL Inc. employees from Virginia Beach, John Mitchell, Warehouse Manager, and Tracie Mitchell, Office Manager, brought much appreciated experience to the office and warehouse. The group was led by then the Sales Manager, Peter Burton, a 14-year veteran from STIHL Australia and Branch Manager, Tom Slater. Mr. Burton is now the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at STIHL Inc. Today, Pacific STIHL has 30 employees dedicated to providing the best customer service in every capacity.
The original 34,728 square-foot building has long since been outgrown and Pacific STIHL is now in the planning stages of expanding to a 60,000 square-foot warehouse and office facility through.
In 1999, Dan Skinner joined Pacific STIHL as Branch Manager. Using his many years of outdoor power equipment experience, Dan has been instrumental in working with California Air Quality Management districts and municipalities to help Pacific STIHL gain market share and visibility due to the low noise and low emission product STIHL offers.
Operating in California provides a unique challenge to Pacific STIHL. California leads the country in strict environmental regulations. Many of the initial regulations were adopted in 1999 and have dramatically affected the outdoor power equipment industry. Fortunately STIHL, always on the leading edge of technology, has been able to provide products that meet the requirements of the agency that enforces these regulations, the California Air Resources Board.
