Welcome to Mississippi Valley STIHL!
Located in Peoria, Illinois, Mississippi Valley is in the nation’s heartland.
Bob Joynt founded this previously independent STIHL distributorship on September 21, 1978. It began shipping STIHL chain saws, log splitters, and an accessory line to about 70 dealers. In 1981 the company, then known as Mississippi Valley Saw, moved into a new location and had a team of 12 employees selling and servicing dealers in the surrounding areas of Iowa and Northern Illinois.
On one of Mr. Hans Peter Stihl’s visits to the U.S., he asked Mississippi Valley to put all of its faith in STIHL, and he would likewise put his efforts in the growth of new products and support. Mississippi Valley Saw became an exclusive STIHL distributor, and its name changed to Mississippi Valley STIHL. This affirmation of dedication to servicing dealers has served MVS well.
By the end of the 1990s, business had grown to proportions unheard of at the inception of the company. The need for more inventory, better training facilities and additional support staff came about as the new millennium approached. Over eight acres of land were purchased and the building process began. MVS focuses on supporting servicing dealers who have chosen to make STIHL their major line along with doing all in their power to grow the mutual business relationship with the company.
MVS became a STIHL Inc. branch on March 3, 2008. It was an easy transition for their 26 employees who accepted positions with STIHL. Many of them had worked with Mississippi Valley STIHL for years and knew the products and their servicing STIHL dealers. Joey Hickey, former Product Manager from sales and marketing in Virginia Beach was selected as the Branch Manager. Mississippi Valley STIHL employees look forward to continuing their strong dedication and support to the servicing dealers in their territory.
