Welcome to Mid-Atlantic STIHL!
Located in Hillsborough, NC Mid-Atlantic STIHL (MAS) was one of the original STIHL American distributors in the US.
On August 13, 1974, when STIHL Incorporated was formed, MAS, initially located in Durham, N.C., was retained as a distributor. This company was similar to the other 30 plus distributors, family-owned and operated. John Woody, Sr. & John Woody, Jr. were the principals contracted to provide sales and service to dealers in the territories of North Carolina and Virginia. They were very successful in the years that followed, improving sales every year. The Mid-Atlantic territory expanded to what it is now, adding Delaware, Maryland, South Carolina, East Tennessee, Washington D.C, and a small portion of West Virginia.
On January 5, 1998, MAS became our fourth branch. Under the leadership of the Branch Manager and Sales Manager from the previous distributorship, MAS has grown by leaps and bounds. Fourteen other associates remained after the merger was complete. The employees who stayed on gave MAS the experience needed. They now have a staff of approximately 52 employees who keep things running smoothly.
In 2001, MAS moved to a larger facility located in Hillsborough, N.C., increasing its space to 59,000-square-feet. The town Hillsborough is 4.3 square miles of the total 398 miles in Orange County. Orange County is part of the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area known as the Research Triangle. It is centrally located in North Carolina. To the west, visit the mountains and lakes, or a few hours to the east, you’ll run into the Atlantic Ocean.
