Welcome to Intermountain STIHL!

Located in Aurora (Denver), Colorado Intermountain STIHL (IMS) is located in a geographical region that features mountains to desert!

IMS opened its doors in November 2000 and comprises areas formerly served by independent distributor Mon-Dak STIHL and the factory branch Pacific STIHL. IMS covers seven states: Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico. This unique branch is geographically large — it covers 700,000 square miles, from the Canadian border to the Mexican Border — yet, it is small, with the fewest employees of all the STIHL branches. Its geographic size means there is a lot of ground to cover between dealer calls, but the branch employees love the variety the territory provides.

While IMS was a new branch, the original team members brought outdoor power equipment experience from many different areas. Walter Bennett, Branch Manager, brought over 25 years of outdoor power equipment management experience to the team. Jorge Rosas, Warehouse Manager, worked at Pacific STIHL, and Judy Vieira, Office Supervisor, came from Northeast STIHL. Larry Blamer, Sales Manager, joined the team from Mid-Atlantic STIHL. Current territory manager Del Alarid (New Mexico) alone has over 35 years experience in the OPE industry. He and Mike Winger (Utah) joined the team from Pacific STIHL. Mike Baumgartner (South Dakota) was with Snapper distribution for over 20 years and Mike Hagan (Colorado) came from the automotive industry.

IMS has more than doubled its sales since 2001. In the beginning, the territory was primarily a chain saw market. While growth has been steady in chain saws, the true ‘stars’ have been power tools, surpassing saws in unit sales several years ago. Concept store installation has been a major initiative for Intermountain and has helped the sales of STIHL.

Colorado is best known for the Rocky Mountains and most first-time visitors to IMS expect their plane to land in an area that looks more like a ski resort than the flatlands where IMS resides. But the area has much to offer visitors, whether it’s hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, or just communing with nature in one of the many nearby national parks. With a mild climate, over 300 days of sunshine a year, and low humidity, outdoor activities are available year round.
