Application Specialist - STIHL Northwest

Supporting: Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho surrounding area.

STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for an Application Specialist! As part of our STIHL Northwest distribution branch, you will play a vital role in working with customers and end-users within your assigned territory. You have the opportunity to participate in the accomplishment of annual sales goals and demonstrate exceptional STIHL products in the field. STIHL produces various finished products including chain saws, blowers and trimmers, which are sold throughout the world at independently owned dealerships. Are you interested in learning more?

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, demonstrates and evaluates product training programs. Initiates contacts with actual and potential customers, to include landscapers, loggers, golf courses, contractors, arborists and municipalities.
  • Maintains appropriate communications with Sales, Territory, Technical and Branch Managers to include a 60 day activity calendar. Submits regular trip and program reports.
  • Attends trade shows, dealer open houses, and other dealer-specific events to promote the general relations between STIHL and individual dealers and end users.
  • Develops and implements training programs for product demonstrations, usage, service, etc. to be marketed to dealers and other parties in order to demonstrate, train and support STIHL products.
  • Actively markets programs through various media including bulk mailings, telephone and personal solicitations, trade show activities and other functions as assigned.
  • Conducts new dealer personnel training at dealer locations as well as training at branch locations or other designated venues. Transports all required materials and sets up/closes down training equipment.

Requirements/Desired:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, additional formal education or training is desired.
  • 3 years of related technical experience, 2 years of training experience, or demonstrated related ability is desired.
  • Non-limited physical agility is required as there is frequent bending, lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., reaching, standing, walking etc.
  • Visual and hearing acuity is required.
  • A good driving record is required.
  • The successful candidate will need to reside between greater Seattle and greater Portland and be open to a minimum of 3 days per week of overnight travel by road and/or air.
  • A background in sales, training and/or customer service would be a good fit for this position.
  • Spanish language skills are desired
