Production Technician

2nd Shift (3:00-11:30pm)

STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for Production Technician! The Guide Bar Manufacturing Facility is one the most recent additions to our 1,000,000 square foot plant in Virginia Beach, VA. Opened in 2007, the Guide Bar Facility has state-of-the-art machines in stamping, welding, heat treating, assembly, painting, and packing. STIHL also produces various finished products including chain saws, blowers and trimmers, and performs manufacturing processes such high-volume assembly, plastic injection molding and CNC machining. Position Responsibilities:

• Selects and loads the appropriate program for the work pieces being produced.
• Selects, installs, and adjusts the proper tooling and attachments for the work pieces being run. Inspects the machine and tools for conformance to run specifications and worn or broken parts.
• May load metal coils via hoist into automatic feeding device; may place any other material into the appropriate machine; may secure work piece manually, depending on the equipment.
• Begins operations by starting program and machine; monitors screen and machine operations to detect malfunctions.
• Inspects and measures work pieces to verify conformance to close tolerance specifications. Uses various mechanical, hand held, and electronic measuring devices.
• Corrects malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions by entering commands or changing parameters in the control. These parameters may include changes to guides, feeds, tool, or other performance factors of the machine.
• Maintains machine through cleaning and minor repairs and adjustments such as oiling, adding coolant, etc.
• Assists or trains other department operators as required.
• Follows all defined safety procedures and uses judgment to ensure safe work methods.
• All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
• Performs related duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3 or more years PLC/CNC experience. Experience in operating PLC controlled machinery related to stamping, welding, assembling, and industrial painting would be preferred
• PLC/CNC software performance and modification competency.
