Maintenance Mechanic Guide Bar

2nd Shift (3:00-11:30pm)

STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for a Guide Bar Maintenance Mechanic! The Guide Bar Manufacturing Facility is one the most recent additions to our 1,000,000 square foot plant in Virginia Beach, VA. Opened in 2007, the Guide Bar Facility has state-of-the-art machines in stamping, welding, heat treating, assembly, painting, and packing. STIHL also produces various finished products including chain saws, blowers and trimmers, and performs manufacturing processes such high-volume assembly, plastic injection molding and CNC machining. Position Responsibilities:

• Observes electro-mechanical and hydraulic devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts or to locate and adjust wiring, etc, that does not reconcile to schematics.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements as shown on drawings or blueprints.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment.
• Completes work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 9001, forklift training, and other safety training courses as prescribed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic blueprints and/or drawings.
• 3-5 years related experience in PLC programming, stamping, painting, and/or lasering.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic production maintenance.
• 2-4 years robotic programming experience.
