Production Supervisor, Plastics
12-hour day shift
STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for a Production Supervisor in our plastic injection molding department! As part of our manufacturing team you will play a vital role in working within our 1,000,000 square foot facility. You have the opportunity to work within a large injection molding department consisting of 68 injection molding machines located in Virginia Beach, VA, and lead a team of individuals through high quality manufacturing processes. STIHL produces various finished products including chain saws, blowers and trimmers, through the use of manufacturing processes such as assembly, injection molding and machining. Position Responsibilities:
- Directs, supervises, and coordinates machine set-ups and operations to provide economical part/product manufacturing that meets quality, quantity, schedule and cost requirements.
- Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, machines and tooling to the best advantages to obtain most favorable costs, quality and workmanship.
- Analyze and diagnose machine problems to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures and to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
- Develops new processes and coordinates development of new materials with suppliers.
- Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement and lean projects.
Requirements:
- Position will most likely be on 12-hour day shift (7am - 7pm) but employee must be shift flexible.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience supervising direct hourly employees within a high volume injection mold environment.
- 4 year college degree in related field.
- Experience with automated equipment and robotics.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles (including 5S and SMED.)
- Experience with SAP is preferred, but not required.
