Supervisor, Financial Accounting (Relocate to Virginia Beach)


Supervises the team of financial accountants resulting in accurate and timely general ledger accounting and analyses. Ensures closing deadlines are met and data requirements delivered. Guides other Finance personnel regarding German Accounting, GAAP, FASB and other generally accepted practices. Assesses internal controls and assists in the ongoing development and maintenance of internal procedures.


  • Prepares and maintains financial reports while supervising a team of accountants. 
  • Trains, sets expectations, delegates, coaches, monitors and counsels.
  • Prepares and/or reviews journal entries and ledger transactions for accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other work groups to resolve issues.
  • Oversees inventory clearing in SAP, as well as related calculation of inventories in-transit and variances.
  • Prepares various analyses as required to include legal, distributor financials and distributor advertising.
  • Oversees the renewal of insurance policies ensuring data requirements are submitted timely.
  • Responsible for maintenance of chart of accounts and license fee compilation.
  • Supports the monthly close and the preparation of quarterly consolidation reports and annual financial statements in compliance with ANDREAS STIHL accounting guidelines and US GAAP.
  • Supports periodic financial meetings for discussion and review of financial reports.
  • Serves as secondary approver of Accounts Payable check and wire runs prior to release to the Treasury Department.
  • Ensures adherence with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls surrounding the financial accounting functions. Suggests changes and improvements as identified.
  • Maintains currency on all changes in GAAP, FASB rulings, other job-related regulatory or legislative issues, as well as STIHL policies and directives.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.





  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office software, including Word, Excel, Power Point & Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
