We are seeking a multi-dimensional plastic injection mold specialist to coordinate the design, procurement and transfer of 80+ (at any given time) molds and related items for the mold design and engineering team!

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Engineer of Injection Molds Team Leader, the position will be responsible to: 

  • Provide “Design for Manufacturing”  feasibility assessment to R&D STIHL Germany and defines mold specification that provides cost savings and/or increased efficiency
  • Procures new molds per specifications ensuring STIHL quality standards and delivery of  “Part to Print”
  • Serving R&D and Manufacturing STIHL worldwide. Coordination of initial sample reporting (new part evaluation) and ensuring all project milestones are met
  • Coordinates and implements engineering changes between R&D STIHL Germany, STIHL, Inc. and mold manufacturers.
  • Develops new mold manufacturing suppliers
  • Identifies and coordinates mold improvements.
  • Investigates various types of new machines and equipment with regard to versatility and diversification of production features required, prices, and other conditions involved.  Prepares reports and recommendations for management relative to purchase or lease of equipment.
  • Develops technical skills by attending training classes, seminars, exhibits and tradeshows.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements:

  • A 4-year degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.  Professionals with technical related experience who are “actively” pursuing their degree will also be considered
  • 3+ year’s experience in mold design with experience in the following areas:
    • Mold feasibility and design
    • SolidWorks and ProE
    • Troubleshooting
