Production Manager, Injection Molding

We are seeking a proven Injection Molding Business Unit Manager for our state of-the- art Polymers Production Group!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and participates in the development of performance, efficiency, and product quality standards for the Accessories Unit. Provides direction, development and leadership to supervisors and engineers to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Monitors output, cycle times, routings, quality indicators and oversees and participates in the resolution of problems or reinforcement of positive findings. Works cross-functionally with other departmental managers, such as Quality Assurance, Production Planning, Purchasing, Procurement Supply Chain and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve difficult or continuing problems.
  • Oversees and participates in daily production operations through personal interaction with production associates, floor response to immediate problems, and regular council and guidance to Unit supervisors and lead people. Oversees the allocation of appropriate levels of labor, the general conformance with STIHL employee rules, the issuing of warnings, and the administration of disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Participates in the development of production plans with representatives from other departments, such as Production Planning and Control, Marketing, Materials, etc. to ensure that performance standards meet customer requirements.  Follows up with departments with respect to ongoing status of plan versus actual performance as requested.
  • Serves as a liaison to R&D and Manufacturing Engineering regarding new products, product changes, required production needs, production processes, future strategic objectives, etc. for Accessories Unit.
  • Initiates meetings or other communications with other departments regarding the resolution of ongoing problems, the implementation of new procedures or processes, or the development of new plans or designs for the Accessories Unit.
  • Participates in the research, development, and design of long-range strategic objectives of Unit operations. Works with departmental managers and other Unit managers in the laying out and planning of potential future operational changes.
  • Develops and controls annual departmental budget plans. Manages capital equipment life-cycles and operating expenditures.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS degree is required, preferably in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience in a high volume manufacturing environment to include injection molding and extrusion
  • Must have experience working in a high volume production environment with tight tolerance requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to quickly identify problems, develop alternative solutions, make decisions, build teams, create accountability,    and lead by example.
  • German language skills desired not required.     
  • Must be self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills.
